This photograph tells the story of weekend mornings making French toast with my boys. I chose to move ingredients closer to an east-facing window near our kitchen table. The boys were wearing costumes and pajamas from morning play and were more than willing to make a huge mess when given the opportunity. I like that the photo shows a moment when my boys are engaged and working together. Big brother is letting younger brother help and the boys are completely engrossed in the moment. The photo also depicts my four-year old mastering breaking eggs without a million tiny shells in the mix. He’s topping off the batch with a pinch of nutmeg. I love how the soft morning light adds depth to the image and gives the colors a little pop.
