I feel I’m consistent with the theme of my photos and what I’m trying to convey. The connection of my boys to nature is central in most of my photographs. I enjoyed experimenting with different ways to handle multiple focal points in a photo this week. With two boys, most of my photos have more than one subject most of the time. I practiced using small aperture and iris blur gallery in PS to focus on the main subject(s) in my photos. I also used light and color. I shot most of my photos outside and a few near a window with soft morning sun.
One of my favorite things to do in my photos is bring in sun flares and glows to highlight something important or create a “dreamy summer” feel. I like the way it adds warmth and something extra to the photo. I have to be careful with color photos and not over doing it with these elements. I’m constantly looking for ways to boost my creativity. For improvement, I want to work on planning for the shot. I want the process to be natural but often I spend too much time thinking about technical aspects that I lose the shot altogether. It is more important for me to be in the moment and enjoy time with my boys then to lose myself in my camera. However, I have noticed dramatic improvements over the weeks with my 365 project. I feel that with more practice, shooting will be more of an extension of my eye rather than a clunky, technical process.
