I enjoyed this week’s assignments because it pushed me to try something new and gave my creativity a little boost. I think my shots reflected this enjoyment and challenge. I always like to include my kids in my photography because it is one of the main reasons I take photos. It was fun capturing them from different angles and viewpoints. I feel like my photos are a mix of happiness and joy, dream and magic. I tried to keep a consistent theme of perspective. The areas that are most important are light and color. I am slowly crawling out of my comfort zone with color with more editing practice. Most the light I used was outdoor light with open shade or semi-overcast. I took all my photos with a low aperture at 1.4 or 1.8. I am loving shooting my 50mm at this level. I have also been challenging myself to use one type of lens for an entire day to get a feel for how my lenses work and the style of photography I prefer with each lens. This has added a whole new level to the learning experience.
For improvement, I think my color editing can still use a lot of practice. I have been experimenting with editing the same photo different ways to try and get back to a similar or consistent color/editing style. It’s been tough. I am still working on skin tones. I really enjoyed the overlays activity and experimented with a few types of textures. I feel that this could also use some improvement with more practice and training.
