This week I felt a little rushed to complete my assignments so I can complete this class and focus on a few other projects I need to work on before summer break. In the end, I was pleasantly surprised with my results. My same place/different times adventure was fun. I usually take my sons to the Dungeness Refuge a couple times a week so I added another day to capture three different scenes and remarkable skies. The waves were rowdy one day and completely calm the next. I loved the light on the anvil cloud and the overall color of the skies. I have been to the spit probably 100 times since my first son was born and it is different every time I go. I feel so lucky to have such an amazing destination right in our backyard.
I will focus the rest of my analysis on the photo illustration assignment which I really struggled with initially. I included two because I ended up liking them both. Initially I started with a vision of creating a composite with my dog howling at the moon. After several big failures, I decided to use a photo I took of fog on the Oregon coast and added some stars and a harvest moon. I like how the moon looks as if it is really shining on my dog. The second photo was something I stumbled on with my two boys. I took photos of them last week looking into the ocean off a boat ramp. I purchased a set of star overlays weeks ago and was trying to figure out how to incorporate them (for fun) into my existing photos. I tried to create a magical pool of water with the milky way. I think the stars could be stronger as it isn't exactly clear what is going on but I do like the dreamy haze and ripple of water over the galaxy which makes it seem more realistic. With some more time and edits, I'm sure I could have made the photos more professional but I had to wrap it up. I've really enjoyed this class and appreciate it challenging me to be a better photographer. Thank you, Marina!
